The Jackal is seen driving a white Alfa Romeo Spider
Line of Events
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes a living by carrying out hit-and-runs for the highest fee. He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer, who follows him on a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. In Day of the Jackal (1973), the Jackal also drives a white Alfa Romeo, albeit an earlier generation model. Referenced in Graham Norton and guests: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). Spy/assassin movies have always been my favorite, from my earliest memories of James Bond to Mission Impossible and Jason Bourne, movies like Shooter, Day of the Jackal (original) and The Jackal, Leon the Professional and the list goes on.
It definitely creates authenticity
This is just another great series in a long list of great shows. With Eddie Redmayne at the helm, and he’s a phenom, this show is great. I’ve worked with guns most of my life, been around guns my whole life, and personally hold firearms licenses – it’s really easy to see that they brought in experts in the field and the military to consult on this show. which is pretty damn nice to see. The entire cast seems to flow together pretty well…
except for one
I first saw Lashana Lynch in the latest James Bond and honestly, I didn’t find her performance to be anything special. In fact, I thought she was awful. Unlike previous black actors (if that was the intention), and let’s go there, she failed to make the cut compared to the wonderful Halle Berry or even the legendary Grace Jones. She felt wooden, flat, uninspired, frankly unworthy, and talentless. But I thought maybe she just sucked at James Bond, “give it another try.” But 5 episodes down…
it’s just awful
I don’t know what her job was before acting, but she might want to think about going back to that. I think the casting choice for Lashana Lynch was honestly bad. Personally, Idris Elba would have been an extremely good choice as an MI6 agent. If you need a black British woman, Christine Adams is great! Damn what about Thandiwe Newton SHE’S FANTASTIC!!!

So many great choices and they chose a cardboard cutout. If you can basically ignore Lashana Lynch, hopelessly, the show is great. It’s a shame this is going to be a miniseries and not a multi-season show that would have been something special. I think Eddie Redmayne should seriously consider other spy-style TV shows because they are fascinating to watch and this show would get a 10/10 if it weren’t for Lynch’s terrible casting choices.. A new season of “Silo”; it’s one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
