Abrams’ Lost had an almost completely different cast

Survivors of a plane crash are forced to work together to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island. J.J. See which A-list stars missed out on one of the most popular TV shows of all time. Sawyer’s character was originally intended to be an older, dapper, suit-wearing city slicker from Buffalo, New York. However, when Josh Holloway forgot a line during his audition, then kicked a chair and cursed loudly in frustration, the writers liked the feel he gave Sawyer’s character and decided to write Sawyer as a darker, southern drifter.

Jin and Sun are married and share the last name “Kwon,” which becomes a major plot point in the final season. However, when Koreans get married, the wife never takes her husband’s last name. At first glance, Lost seems like an impossible idea: a group of people stranded on a mysterious island. How many plot lines CAN you pull out of that before it runs dry? That’s a valid fear, but in the case of Lost, it’s completely unfounded. Lost, unlike many modern shows where the plot drives the characters, is actually the opposite: the characters drive the plot. This isn’t CSI or Law & Order.
Yes, mysterious events occur
Every week on Lost is a variation on the same theme. In Lost, you have a group of fascinatingly different and tragically flawed characters who somehow have to learn to survive together while trying to keep their secrets a secret. That’s a recipe for disaster. After a long time of living together, the characters will discover that their pasts cannot be kept a secret. Yes, there is a monster on the island.
And it is fascinating to watch
Yes, fear is often in the air. But for me, the external problems that the island itself creates are NOTHING compared to the INTERNAL problems that the characters must face, both with each other and with each other. And that is where the REAL drama lies.
