I was wrong
But while the dialogue in episode 1 was slow to run, a few moments dragged on too long, and the scenes attempting Quinten-like dialogue wouldn’t let me rest, I tried to console myself. Surely they’re just developing characters and giving them a unique voice.
As the episodes dragged on, I realized this series wasn’t going to work
Not only was it disjointed, but it had few characters I really cared about. I honestly don’t know how the magic happened, but I was deeply captivated by the stories and characters of Slow Horses, The Americans, Le Bureau, The Diplomat, and even The Old Man—for all their faults.
Add to that the lack of stakes and the numerous omissions of essential details, and the annoyance:interest ratio became too high to be enjoyable
Yes, all the essential spy elements are here in Black Doves, but somehow there was no salt in the recipe, and by E03 I was already upping the playback speed. I’m so sad for what could have been… No need to waste time scrolling endlessly—here’s the full lineup of new movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix this month.
