Nate Busko has spent 12 of his 17 years running from his past. Tired of being bounced from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats corn husks, and uses running practice as a way to de-stress. By nightfall, he couldn’t be more different from the confident, cocky high school student. One is haunted by fragments of traumatic memories from his past. Enter Stan Deen, a popular high school drama teacher who is dealing with his own problems. He sees Nate’s hidden talent and need to care and mentor where no other teacher has, and steps in to help. But in a shocking turn of events, Nate is arrested in the middle of the school and marched out in handcuffs. Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only posts bail, but also agrees to drive Nate home, despite the raised eyebrows of his fellow teachers. Stan is willing to do whatever he can to help his troubled student. But the question is, can you really help anyone if you’re not willing to help yourself?
